The Histopathological Studies on the Chronic Palatine Tonsillitis

Abstract
The author studied the correlations between the duration of the chronic palatine tonsillitis and the changes of the tonsillar histopathology on the 192 palatine tonsil specimens, obtained from the 192 cases (male 115, female 77) having chronic palatine tonsillitis.
The following results are obtained :
1) Male and Female ratio was 3 :2, predominant in the male. 38.5% out of the total cases were in the age group of 6 to 10 years.
2) 40.9% out of the total cases were in the duration group of 1 to 8 years.
3) The percentages of the marked T-cell and B-cell hyperplasia were paralleled with the length of the duration of the tonsillitis.
4) On the surface epithelium of the tonsil, the percentages of the ulceration and necrosis were relatively paralleled with the length of the duration of the tonsillitis.
5) On the subepithelial tissue of the tonsils, the cases with longer duration of the tonsillitis show relatively lower percentage of the capillarization and edema.
